Just had to post again to say the walk i did with dad yesterday (friday) was the best ever. cant wait to put pics up.

caught chairlift then walked along scree-slopes above the tree-line, up to a refugio at about 2100m. we then walked up higher between some of the peaks that feature in many dolomite (& indeed my) photos (sassolungo) where the pass between them is 2600m - about the height of kosciosko, i believe.

saw a marmot (kind of like a beaver), saw part of a glacier/ice flow in the mountain (which according to the guide thaddeus, is decreasing in size every year due to warming). we had a funny sheepdog with us (the hotel's dog) that liked to hear it own voice i reckon - it sarted barking when we were at the top of our walk, where the massive rocks form a natural amphitheatre. so great bellowing echoes of barking went around.
