2007! I am sure I'm not alone when I say that it's another weird moment to see the beginning of a new year. 13 years ago I was having to face my parents for escaping the house through my window to go and enjoy new years in Brisbane City with a girlfriend. 10 years ago I was pondering what the looming year 12 at school would present. 6 years ago I was hanging out at the coast playing lots of beach volleyball thinking about my future job with a degree. And last year I was at the Gold Coast with Vince and family, knowing that by the next new years I would have travelled Europe. And last night I spent it at a restaurant overlooking a beautiful lagoon and watching fireworks behind famous Burj Al Arab (2m shorter than Q1 Tower, Gold Coast)
How life evolves :)
After spending some very restful days in Edinburgh, I had some very stressful moments at Heathrow when I found (about 4 hours before my flight) that the travel agent had held my booking but hadn't actually paid British Airways for it, therefore I had no ticket. After some frantic telephone conversations (& thoughts of flying straight back home, if this all fell through), the incompetent travel agent (ebookers.com just to warn you), transferred the money and BA welcomed me with opened arms. I flew to Dubai to stay with Anna, Sam and their parents Jen and Dave. Planning to explore some of the 7 countries that make up the United Arab Emirates over the next few weeks. So should I change my blog title to European, Asian (for Turkey) and Arabian Adventure?
Happy New Year wishes to you all! May you have plenty of paracetamol on hand to take the edge of the hangovers!
