Hiya - now in Pompei after a full-on day visiting the abandoned ancient (ie. 2-4AD) city of Ostia Antica. It is quite an amazing place with some great big baths and fantastic mosaics. After seeing OA we drove to Pompei and got in here about 8pm. It was not a fun drive - we got about 50km away from Naples and we were driving through the thickest smoke/fog I have ever seen. At some times I could hardly see the white lines on the motorway and we could only see two little flashy hazard lights of the car ahead - none of the cars/trucks ahead of that one... I was pretty terrified... Was doing some of that bloody pregnancy breathing - you know slow exhalations through pursed lips. I also managed to rip the tips off two of my nails as I was fiddling nervously. We got through it, thank the being looking after us, and Johnno was good coz he was cracking jokes so I wasn't having a complete heart-attack.
So now it's time for dinner and a glass of wine. Well-deserved after a big day :)
