After Kim left yesterday for the airport my godmother, Marjorie, who lives in Edinburgh came to pick me up - she had the afternoon free. So lovely to see her, haven't seen her in years. Marjorie is Mum's friend from 30 or so years ago, an ex-Aussie, she has called Edinburgh home for the last 10 years or so.
Anyway, she has a lovely flat with views of the castle and I just hung out and relaxed (and ate Vegemite toast again!!!!). We caught the end of sunset on the roof of her place which was fun.
On the roof with Marjorie, castle is behind us but i think I'm blocking it?

View up Cockburn St in town, Kim & I walked up there a few times.

Today I went for a little wander around the shops nearby while Marjorie was baking some apple pies. (I'm devouing one now and it is absolutely fab!) It's such a cute city/town Edinburgh. Ran into an Aussie who's living here for the next few months to work as she's run out of money for travelling... yes it's a common story among the travellers :)
Then Marjorie dropped me in the town north of Edinburgh called Stirling so I could visit Stirling Castle. It has a great Palace that is currently being restored, that was built by James VI (Scotland)/James I (England). I could see the Mel Gibson - ahem.. William Wallace Monument across the way too.
Wandered through a cemetary atop the hill before making my way back through the town to the train station and then back to Edinburgh.
